Why do Art Auctioneers mislead passengers on costs Cost of item, say $700 plus 15% Buyers Premium =$105 sub total $805 the ad US Handling of $95 =$900 then UK further Handling Charge of $30 = $935, Auctioneers the parade that they pay taxes into UK which is 5,55 whch everyody believes is on the ITEM purchsed . But this is not the case a further 5.5% is charged all thus making the $935 increase by a further $51.42 = $986.42
Therefore 15% Buyers premium is inreased by $5.77 therfore is not 15% Fixed fees UK/US Handling Fee $125 ( $95+$30) is increased by a further $7.42
Iam somewhat supprised that the God Name of Cunard is being abused by a franchisee, and supprised that Cunard have not seen this scam in ripping off hardwon passengers. FOR THE RECORD THIS IS HAPPENING ACROSS THE GROUP.
CUNARD GT YOR FINGER OUT!
Any one who buys ART? aboard ships need their heads looking at. All you need to do is read Douglas Wards Cruise reviews to see what normal people think about these cruise auctions! So sorry you fell for the hype. Live and learn.
I disagree with previous comment and believe that there are good deals to be found in these auctions, having bought art on P& O cruises. However I would suggest that you see the total cost that you will be paying for the piece you like, inclusive of Buyers Premium and delivery; then check on the internet to see a typical price for the piece. If its a better deal on the boat then buy there, if not then leave alone.
