Find Your Cruise
The British Tradition is to tip at the end of cruise, & you wont be seen as tight. Euro's are OK but given the choice I think they would prefer USD & from your point of view think about the Euro/Dollar rate. USD is in your favour. Tipping half way through the cruise is a Cranky Yankee idea that's best left where it belongs. 3000 mile away!!
Thanks to both of you. Wilba , you did make me smile.
Princess will add tips automatically to your onboard account (10 dollars per person per day on our last trip) If you leave that as it is you don't need to payt any more tips to anyone...but if you do as we do and halve it when you go on board, you may then add an amount for your steward, waiters, etc. at the end of the cruise if you get excellent service. Most people pay at the end of the cruise....we have been twice on Sea Princess and liked it very much.
Tip him/her at the beginning! Then, if you feel you have had exceptional service (and we did) tip again at the end.
This is our second criuse , we tip at the end of our criuse we give £20 pounds for our 7/ day criuse hope this helps mick.
We always allow £10 per day for tips spread around cabin steward, waiter and assistant waiter.
Some get more some less depending on the service.
Always opt out of the prepay as we like to make sure the money goes to whom we think deserve it.
At 15% on drinks on board we feel that after paying good money we should not have to pay the wages as well.
Always payed a bit more than the recommended though if the payment is compulsory (as it is on some lines) would leave nothing.
Usually end up paying more though we would draw the line at including children in the tips though we have not had that scenario.
Think £20 for seven days is a bit low.
