Cruise lines, especially the British and American ones, are getting more and more tough on this disgusting habit. Many ban smoking in cabins now, and in most enclosed areas. Smoking is still usually allowed on balconies and in some bars and on deck. Please refer to Royal Caribbean for their LATEST directions on their smoking policy. Happy cruising.

If you consider smoking to be a disgusting habit - STAY AWAY FROM THE SMOKING AREAS. Don't have the audacity to try and impose your preferences on others. Smokers have human rights too.

Everyone has their point of view on smoking. I am not a smoker but I presume that if there are smokers in the next room to me and they use their balcony to smoke I will have to find somewhere else to sit to enjoy some clean air as I believe people do have rights although mine dont seem to count too much in this situation.

On Independence the smoking rule is stricter than on other RCI ships. On balconies, outside on deck 4, 11 and 12 and in the lower floor of the Labyrinth nightclub only.
