Wallington - Answered a Question by mcgrath (02 May 08 17:37)

I don't know if anyone has answered this but anyhow there is abus in Gerona airport direct to Barcelona. Can't remember how much but not expensive. But from where they drop you in Barcelona you will have to get a taxi to the port. Should take about 10-15 mins max and taxi's in Barcelona are reasonably priced. Take a note of where the bus stops in Barcelona so that you get it right when you return to Gerona. Rgds Nigel .

Sorry to disagree with Wallington but Gerona (Girona) airport is 70 mile from Barcelona, about 1 hour 20min by taxi. I take it your flying Ryanair as that is what they euphemistically call Barcelona. The main airport BCN is only 15-20 mins to/from the docks, but it sure ain't Gerona. If it were me, I always arrange a taxi on the net to be waiting on arrival.

Nigel is right. Very frequent express buses (Barcelona Bus - 21 Euros return, 12 single I seem to rememberleave from right outside the trrminal at Gerona and in 70 minutes you are in Barcelona at the main train station. Go upto the street level (lift or stairs) and jump in a cab. Tell them or show on a map where your ship leaves from and the name of the ship - then sit back and relax! Do the same on the way back although we had to wait a while for a taxi from the ship. Any further questions, do ask...............colinwolfendaleathotmaildotcodotuk -it's an easy way to transfer from plane to ship! Colin Coli.

To follow up previous answer - I've checked and it is Barcelona Nord - the main Barcelona bus station. Have a google and put in Barcelona Bus - transfers from Gerona Airport! Coli.

And if you don't want to haul all your luggage on a bus, a taxi from the airport to the ship will be about 35 Euros.

North - Answered a Question by mcgrath (03 May 08 06:37)

The other alternative will be a taxi or bus to Malgrat de Mar or anywhere further north on the railway - then getting the rail to Barcelona and then a 10 minute taxi ride - that would take a total of about 1 hour 45 minutes and at a guess it will cost 50 Euros for the 1st taxi to Malgrat - less if you can join the train a little nearer Gerona but I cannot recall all the other stops - about 15 Euros per person on the train and probably 15 Euros for the taxi in Barcelona to the port. The train runs very regularly and is reliable fast and has a scenic coastal view.

I agree with the above. The bus direct to barcelona centre is abut 20 euros each. It does take about an hour though so leave plenty f time also they generaly leave ever hour so you may well be waiting up to an hour to get one.Be Prepared with this. There are plent of taxis around the bus station as it is also the train station. There is a little tourist info desk where you can get a map and they will circle where you are for ease of getting back. Try to eave lots of ime for exploring in barcelona it is an amazing place. Vick.

There is a train service from Gerona to Barcelona, takes about an hour, with pleasant rural scenery. From the main railway station it is a short taxi ride to the port. If you feel fit, it is a pleasant 30 minute walk from the main railway station and square to the port via the main road called La Rampa.
