If you are happy to sail across the Bay of Biscay to Gibralter then it is not far from there to the Canaries. Most cruises seem to call at Spanish/Portuguese ports and Madeira on the way. I have crossed the Bay many times and it has normally been reasonably calm. However, there is always a chance of rough seas. Remeber, wherever you are in the world there is always a chance of choppy seas. Recently we had some rough weather between New Zealand and Australia in their Summer! Happy sailing!

The weather will be like a very good and warm spring day in the UK. The seas are normally calm and less liklihood of a bumpy ride than the Bay.

Thank you both so much. Like you Mr/Mrs Miller We have been lucky on 9 out of 10 crossings of the Bay and also like you had rough weather in the Tasman Sea earlier this year! Were you on Mercury, ex Auckland on 3rd. February, by any chance? Cynthia Sette.

Hi we did this cruise last October on the navigator, great cruise the only problem for me was going through the bay of biscay, it was quite rough the weather was not good until we reached Maderia then the weather was great, did the canaries and then stopped at Vigo on the return waether super until left Vigo and headed back to the UK again a very bumpy ride, i felt quite cheated that i had missed two days of my holiday because we could not use outside space, it has put me off cruising from Southampton.
